Sharp 29 solar manufacturers in Japan pointed out that the company is located in Sakai City, Osaka, the
new solar plant, has officially entered mass production; plant-derived products for the 1.1 by 1.4 square
meters of large-size glass substrates for thin film solar cells estimated annual capacity of up to 160
megawatts (MWp).
Sharp is located in Sakai City, Osaka, the new factory of solar cells, Sharp is the most important solar
cell plant. Sharp said that the factory output of large-size glass substrates for thin film solar cells, mainly
exported to European markets first.
Solar industry said, plus the original Sharp's crystalline silicon thin film solar 160MWp and 550MWp
capacity, Sharp solar modules currently total capacity of about 870MWp.
Sharp's thin film solar modules include stacked microcrystalline silicon thin film solar modules
(Tandem) and three junction thin film solar modules, solar energy conversion efficiency can be achieved on
average about 9 to 10%.
It is understood that Sharp has been the seat of new solar power plant invested 72 billion yen, including
manufacturers of construction costs, and annual production capacity of up to 480MWp imported production
equipment. Therefore, Sharp will follow as demand trends, and gradually the new plant with production
capacity increased seat to 480MWp scale.
Foreign news reports, Sharp plans to seat the new plant eventually could expand to 1,000 MWp annual
production scale.
